Beginner workshop · redone

Your first MUN, explained plainly.

Six short lessons for first-time delegates: what happens in the room, how no-tech sessions work, what to say, how to caucus, how to write your paper, and what to bring.

No-tech reminder

During committee sessions, delegates use paper notes and face-to-face negotiation rather than laptops, tablets or phones, unless the chair lifts it for research. Outside session, at breaks and over lunch, laptops are welcome.

Lesson 01

The room

A committee room has a chair at the front, delegates seated by country, and placards used for recognition. You do not need to know everything before you walk in. Your first job is simple: listen, raise your placard, and learn the rhythm of the room.

1
Answer roll call with “Present.”
2
Wait for the chair to ask for motions.
3
Raise your placard when you want to speak or vote.
4
Take notes on what other countries say.
Say / remember this
“Present.” Then breathe. The chair will guide the first few steps.
