A country, a global problem, and a room full of people to convince. No experience needed — most delegates start knowing nothing about it. This year North Penn hosts its own conference, KnightMUN, on October 17, 2026.
None. That is not a slogan.
You do not need to have debated before, followed foreign policy, or be the loudest person in your classes. Every delegate on this team was new once, and the first thing the club teaches is the procedure everyone assumes you already know.
If speaking in front of people is the part that worries you — that is the reason to come, not the reason to stay away.
A committee, a crisis, and four hours to fix it.
You get a country.
You argue its position, not your own. Learning to make a case that isn’t yours is most of the skill.
You get a real problem.
Climate financing, refugee policy, nuclear inspection, a crisis that unfolds while you’re in the room.
You argue, then you negotiate.
Speeches are the visible part. The deals get made in the ten-minute breaks between them.
You write the resolution.
Your bloc drafts the document the room votes on. Getting your clause into it is how you win.
The skills are the point.
Speaking without notes
To a room of people you’ve never met, about research you did yourself, again and again. It stops being frightening — and that carries into interviews and every class after it.
Research and writing on a deadline
A position paper makes you find real sources, take a defensible stance, and hold it in under two pages.
Negotiation
Finding the one thing the other side actually wants, and trading for it. Almost nothing else in high school teaches this.
Actually understanding the news
After a few conferences the headlines stop being background noise. You know why the parties are behaving the way they are.
Running things
Experienced delegates chair committees, write the guides, and lead training. This year North Penn students are running an entire conference.

KnightMUN brings schools from across the region to North Penn on October 17, 2026. It is built and staffed by students, which means there are real roles open to you before you have ever been to a conference.
